One of, if not the most common type of heating systems used in today’s world is electric. There is a lot of controversy between gas and electric heating systems because they each have their own advantages and disadvantages over the other, a lot of it comes down to personal preference as many fear that the electric heating systems will cost a far lot more in the long run. This will then push them into getting a gas heating system without even knowing the full picture.

Electric hot water heaters are not as expensive as many people think them to be, you will have seen it on television that the big companies are trying to get the message out that gas heaters are the safer choice for two main reasons. One, they are cheaper and two, they will remain active in the unfortunate event of having a power cut. Statement two is 100% correct as an electric hot water heater will run from the electricity so if it was to have a power surge it will be switched off unless you have a backup power source in place such as a generator.

You cannot believe everything you see on television and you should definitely at least consider all of your options yourself before making any decisions you may regret in the future.

On the other side of the argument you wouldn’t just base your decision on running price, you have to look into the safety and availability because natural gases will not be around forever and they do much more harm to the environment which could be avoided if you were to use alternative methods. You may already know but propane can be a highly explosive gas so are you putting your family in unnecessary risks? Saying this, don’t automatically think you will be 100% safe using an electric heating system because there are the odd occasions that they will cause fires. However, the chance of this happening is far less than if you were using gas heating systems.

Another factor that people often look at is the speed of the heating process because the last thing you want to do is wait around for the water to get hot before you have a bath/shower or a wash.

If you are still unsure which would be the best, you need to sit down and add up the advantages of each to find out which actually suits you better. Take everything into account and do the required research and it will make the decision much easier.
