Radiant floor heating systems have been around for centuries. The Romans and Koreans have channeled hot air underneath their floorboards. A lot of homebuilder's surveys have exposed that, if they had a choice, most homeowners would prefer radiant floor heating systems to the other types of heating systems available.
Radiant floor heating systems are used for heating homes, shops, or any other structures using the heat concentrated under the floor. It works through embedding a kind of special tubing on some concrete foundation or on a thin concrete mixture on a wood-framed floor. Through this tubing, heated water or an anti-freeze mixture will flow, consequently heating the concrete’s thermal mass.
Most conventional systems that use forced air or wood stoves or some other kinds of heating methods are able to produce uneven heat, usually with the highest temperatures of air near the ceiling. Radiant floor heating positions the heat from the floor underneath your feet, comfortably warming an area or a complete building. This, in turn, results to similar levels of heating that comes with excellent comfort while saving energy and money in the monthly fuel bills. Warm water that is collected from solar collectors, water heaters or water pumps is circulated through the installed tubing on a radiant floor.
