What are the benefits of using baseboard heat?
Not like central air, baseboard heating systems are able to warm up an area through a process that is more cost-effective and efficient. Similar to how a radiator works, a baseboard heater’s metal units can warm up the surrounding air through heat emission, although they can also be controlled using a thermostat. Usually positioned along the wall’s bottom portion, they use a kind of convection system that can take in cold air from the floor and then heat it up using an electrical system integrated in its core. The heater then lets the warmed air to be released to the room. This natural rotation carries on up until the point that the air near the floor is heated to a desired temperature.
Though this cycle is a bit slow in attaining the specified temperature, it is more cost-effective as once it reaches the point that the room is warm enough, it is able to remain consistently heated. Aside from this, baseboard heaters are able to save money in a lot of ways:
Baseboard heating systems are just mounted on the bottom part of a wall so there are no high costs from insulation, ductwork and maintenance.
Baseboard heating units can be cheaply installed and do not require regular repair. You would also have more control as to which rooms you would be installing the units.
Unlike a furnace that heats up the whole house, baseboard heaters warm up each room individually, allowing you to isolate the heat as you see fit, that can save you more energy and money.
Other benefits of using baseboard heaters are:
Baseboard heaters can be painted with any color to fit the tone or appearance of a room.
They can also be covered using a metal guard that will keep the heating core away from children’s reach and pets and debris.
They require minimal maintenance. You just have to lightly dust the unit and occasionally clean it.
These heaters are not noisy and will not dry out the air too much.
