What are the two types of baseboard heating systems?

Baseboard heat can actually be produced by two types of heating systems: electric baseboard heaters and hot water baseboard heaters. Electric baseboard heaters heat a house per room and are designed as individual units. They do not require any expensive ductwork or central heating. They are not as efficient as other central heating systems, however, they make use of the principles of airflow and radiation to function better compared to other space heating systems.

On the other hand, a hot water baseboard heater or a hydronic baseboard heater make use of central heating and channel hot water from pipes to the individual baseboard heating components to heat the rooms. This kind of heater is a very efficient source of heat. They can even have better efficiency over other kinds of central heating systems. Hydronic heating should be used together with radiant flooring, in which heating pipes are positioned underneath the floor. However, some floorings in homes can make this kind of installation impractical. A hot water baseboard heater is a great alternative to hydronic heating without making the initial installation skyrocket.
